No mês passado (19 de Maio) vi Metallica mais uma vez, a primeira num concerto de sala, e fiquei altamente deleitado com uma das bandas que fez a abertura, um vocalista cheio de energia e um guitarrista com um carisma genial, Volbeat

Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.

Dio's stomach cancer diagnosis became public in late 2009. Earlier this year, the artist announced that a planned European tour with his band Heaven & Hell would have to be canceled due to his declining health. Dio, however, was able to appear in Los Angeles at an early April metal event sponsored by hard rock magazine Revolver, where he spoke of the challenges of dealing with chemotherapy.

"I never realized what a difficult thing it was to go through," he said in a video interview with Artisan News. "It's a real cumulative effect -- the more you have, the more it piles up on top and it takes longer and longer to get over it. I find it very difficult to eat. I don't like to eat, anyway, so I guess that's OK. But I know I have to. But this makes it very, very hard. But if you're determined to beat it, then you have to go with what you believe is going to beat it for you."

Dio was born July 10, 1949, according to the Rolling Stone Encyclopedia of Rock & Roll, yet there has long been dispute about his age. Fans have long put Dio's true birth date as the summer of 1942, and numerous reports of Dio's death have cited his age as 67.

Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne as the lead singer of Black Sabbath, who left the band in 1979 after increasingly reckless behavior. Dio's first album with the group, "Heaven & Hell," has been certified platinum by industry trade body the RIAA, putting its total shipments at more than 1 million copies. Soon after the release of 1981's "Mob Rules," Dio left Black Sabbath to start his own group, Dio.

Dio continued to record with his namesake group into this decade, and more recently had formed Heaven & Hell. The latter was essentially a reunion of the Obsourne-less Black Sabbath, and released the studio effort "The Devil You Know" in 2009. The Rhino album entered the U.S. pop chart at No. 8 after selling 30,000 copies in its first week.

DREAM THEATER drummer Mike Portnoy has issued the following update:

"As 2009 is finally winding down and no DREAM THEATER plans have been made public yet for 2010, I'd like to just give a quick rundown of what we have planned to prevent any rumors or speculation that I'm starting to see brew....

"As you know, after Thanksgiving we will be heading down to New Zealand for the very first time and then over to Australia (with special guests PAIN OF SALVATION), and then we will return home to our families for the holidays and New Year...

"In an unexpected move, we will then enter the studio right after New Year's to write and record a brand new instrumental track for inclusion on the upcoming 'God Of War 3' soundtrack. This will mark the first time in the band's career we have written and recorded an exclusive track for an outside project. Roadrunner invited us to participate and we decided we were up for the challenge!

"Next on the agenda will likely be a South American tour in the late winter / early spring...but we are still awaiting details on this, so, of course, plans are still subject to change...

"Speaking of changed plans, I'm afraid I have some disappointing news for our North American fans: after serious discussion within the band and evaluations with our manager and agent, we have deciding against doing another U.S. run in spring as we had initially planned. For many reasons, it just is not going to work out as we had originally hoped. (and yes Texas, I still remember we owe ya next time!)

"Essentially, this means the 'Black Clouds & Silver Linings World Tour' will conclude with South America (if it indeed happens) and the only remaining DREAM THEATER shows in 2010 will be some possible festivals and one-off shows that may (or may not) happen towards the end of the summer.

"So that's the 2010 forecast for DREAM THEATER....

"The 2010 Mike Portnoy forecast is another story....

"Although I do plan on having some down time to enjoy with my family....I do have several things on my agenda that will keep me plenty busy (of course!)...

"As most of you know, it's looking VERY likely that TRANSATLANTIC [the progressive rock supergroup featuring Portnoy, MARILLION's Pete Trewavas, THE FLOWER KINGS' Roine Stolt and Neal Morse [ex-SPOCK'S BEARD]) will hit the road with some shows in support of the newly released reunion album 'The Whirlwind'. It looks like we found a nice little window in mine, Pete's, Neal's and Roine's schedules to make this happen in the spring. So we are currently looking into doing some select shows in major cities on both sides of the Atlantic during this period (it will be our first truly 'transatlantic' tour — as we only did the U.S. for 'SMPT:e' in 2000 and only did Europe/U.K. for 'Bridge Across Forever' in 2001). Details of these shows should start to firm up soon, so stay tuned.

"In addition to the TRANSATLANTIC tour, I also have several other exciting possibilities up my sleeve for 2010, so time will tell what pans out and become realities....

Moonspell é um grupo musical de Portugal de Gothic/Black Metal. Formada iniciamente como "Morbid God" em 1989, tinha como integrantes Fernando Ribeiro nos vocais e Mike Gaspar na bateria, além de dois outros integrantes. No seu início o grupo tocava black metal

História:
Em meados de 1989 surgia a banda Morbid God, ainda inexperiente, sem bons instrumentos e sem um bom local para ensaiar. Somente no ano seguinte seria registrada em estúdio a primeira música da banda, no formato de promo-tape e com o título de "Serpent Angel". Este grupo só conseguiu se estabilizar em 1993, lançando a sua primeira demo-tape.

Foi em 1992 que a banda mudou o nome para Moonspell. Em 1993 os Moonspell (Fernando Ribeiro (vocalista) e Mike Gaspar (bateria) gravaram a demo Anno Satanae, que garantiu um contracto com a editora francesa Adipocere para a gravação de um mini-cd que foi editado um ano depois com o nome Under the Moonspell. E m 1995, e já na Century Media, editaram o seu primeiro cd, intitulado Wolfheart. Neste cd os Moonspell quebraram com o seu antigo estilo, black metal, para produzirem um cd gótico com influências de Folk e Black Metal. O cd foi um sucesso, e colocou finalmente os Moonspell na cena de metal internacional. O cd que se seguiu, Irreligious, foi lançado em 1996, cujo single, Opium (música inspirada no poema Opiário de Álvaro de Campos, heterónimo de Fernando Pessoa), continua a ser uma das músicas mais conhecidas dos Moonspell. Em 1998 é lançado o Sin/Pecado, como elementos eletrônicos sendo adicionados ao som da banda, num trabalho belo e experimental, em seguida (1999) viria o The Butterfly Effect, elevando ainda mais essa face experimental/eletrônica. Em 2001, o álbum Darkness and Hope aparece com uma sonoridade gótica, sendo aclamado pelos fãs, que em seguida ficariam extasiados com o The Antidote (2003), álbum mais agressivo, porém, mantendo a caraterística da banda e tido por alguns fãs como o melhor álbum.

Em 2006 sai o considerado melhor álbum da banda 'Memorial' que atingiu o top português na primeira semana em que esteve à venda. Adjuvados pelo sucesso do último álbum, os Moonspell ganharam em Novembro de 2006 o prémio de Best Portuguese Act dos MTV Europe Music Awards!. Em 2007 editam o seu mais recente album, "Under Satanae", composto por regravações das primeiras demos. Ainda se espera a saída do DVD que cubra a história da banda.]]> [Image: moonspell.jpg]
